About Ikari no Yousai 2

Ikari no Yousai 2 is a top-down action title for the Game Boy, continuing the story from Fortified Zone. Players control two special agents, Masato Kanzaki and Mizuki Makimura, on a mission to infiltrate an enemy base and destroy a weapon under development.

The core gameplay involves navigating maze-like areas, shooting adversaries, and occasionally locating keys to progress. Contact with enemies depletes a life energy meter, making avoidance a consideration. A defining system is the ability to instantly switch between the two protagonists, who possess contrasting attributes; one is slower with higher stamina, while the other is faster but less durable.

This sequel retains the basic concept of its predecessor but introduces specific changes. Character movement now includes diagonal directions. The arsenal is handled through a separate menu where special weapons, which have unlimited ammunition, can be selected. Previously separate power-up effects, such as increased attack range or power, are now integrated into the inherent differences between the two characters, and health pick-ups remain the only collectible items of that type.
