About X-Men: Mutant Academy

X-Men: Mutant Academy for the Game Boy Color adapts the fighting game concept to the handheld's capabilities, resulting in a 2D presentation. The core combat uses the system's two buttons for basic strikes and mutant powers, while a gradually filling rage meter enables more powerful special moves through specific combinations.

Players select from a roster of nine initial fighters, divided between four X-Men and five adversaries. Completing the story campaign, where one character fights through the entire lineup, provides codes to access two further hidden combatants. Several other modes are included, such as survival against all opponents with limited health, three-on-three team battles, and a linked versus option for two players.
