The Mummy

Review
Also known as
Hamunaptra: Ushinawareta Sabaku no Miyako ハムナプトラ 失われた砂漠の都

Switch between three characters with unique abilities to solve puzzles and explore tombs.

The Game Boy Color version of The Mummy, developed by Konami Computer Entertainment Nagoya and published by Konami, was released in 2000. This is the earliest and only commercial release of this exact game version on the Game Boy Color platform, and it is also the original release of the game on any platform.

About The Mummy

The Mummy for Game Boy Color is an action title incorporating puzzle solving, derived from its film counterpart. Its narrative involves an ancient Egyptian priest mummified in antiquity and brought back to life in the 1920s, posing a global threat.

Gameplay revolves around tomb exploration to secure artifacts. A key feature is the control of three distinct characters, each with specialized skills: one excels at jumping and carrying objects, another employs firearms for combat and interacting with distant mechanisms, and the third handles explosives. These characters possess separate health reserves and can be swapped between instantly.

Progress through the numerous levels demands the strategic application of all three protagonists' abilities to overcome environmental puzzles and platforming sequences. The game can become challenging, as scenarios may reach a point where progression is impossible, though a reset function allows for restarting a level without consequence.
