About Planet of the Apes

Planet of the Apes for the Game Boy Color is a side scrolling action title where players navigate a series of levels filled with environmental hazards and hostile foes. The protagonist, an astronaut named Ulysses, finds himself in a future where apes rule and humans are nearly extinct.

Progress is saved through a password system, allowing the game to be played in sessions. The narrative, presented through still images that reference the films, follows Ulysses as he allies with human survivors to confront General Ursus and prevent a final assault on humanity.

Gameplay involves maneuvering through traps and platforms while engaging armed ape adversaries. The player character's arsenal evolves from a knife to more powerful firearms like a pistol and a shotgun over the course of the adventure.
