About NBA Jam 99

NBA Jam 99 for the Game Boy Color presents a two on two basketball experience, maintaining the arcade style the series was known for rather than adopting a full team simulation. Its visual presentation and core mechanics are an evolution of a prior Tournament Edition release, now featuring color graphics and refined animations.

The roster reflects the professional league of its time, containing all twenty nine teams from that season. Each team offers five distinct players with individualized abilities for selection. A variety of match types are available, from individual contests to extended season and playoff campaigns, alongside a practice option.

Control during matches is handled through a simple three button layout, where a turbo function can modify other actions. The game provides numerous adjustable settings, such as the ability to control both teammates, activate temporary skill boosts, or adjust the computer opponent's tactical approach. Additional modifiers include designated scoring zones for extra points and a mode that increases the overall speed of play.
