Magical Vacation is a Game Boy Advance title that blends adventure with role-playing mechanics. The setting involves a magic school called Will-O-Wisp, which the protagonist attends after receiving an invitation from its principal. A key feature of the protagonist is an ability to communicate with spirits.

The narrative begins with a background of a secret three-day war in the kingdom of Kovomaka, an event unknown to the general public. This conflict set the stage for later events, as a man traveled the nation preparing for future battles. The main story picks up years later when the protagonist's class is sent to a seaside summer school in Valencia, a location noted for unexplained disappearances of schools. During this trip, a creature known as an Enigma appears, capturing several students and prompting a rescue mission.

Exploration occurs across four distinct plains, each containing multiple terrains and native populations. Combat uses a turn-based system where elemental affinities determine the effectiveness of attacks. The game also includes social and competitive features for multiple players, allowing for spell trading, access to restorative hot springs, and direct battles against one another.
