About Space Boy

Space Boy was one of those games you'd find on a Flash portal in the mid-2000s. It had that simple, clean look common to a lot of action games from that era. You'd load it up in your browser, and it was ready to go without any fuss.

You control a small ship at the bottom of the screen, moving it left and right with your mouse. Your job is to shoot the waves of geometric aliens that descend from the top. The main objective is to clear each level by destroying every enemy. A key mechanic is that the larger aliens split into two smaller ones when hit, and those smaller ones split again. You have to manage these multiplying threats. Sometimes, defeating an enemy drops a bonus item, like a power-up or extra points, which you need to catch before it falls off screen. The pace is steady, but it gets hectic as the screen fills with split fragments. It feels like a focused, reactive scramble to keep everything under control.
