About Rhyth'em Up
Rhyth'em Up was one of those games you'd find buried in a Flash portal. It came out during the peak of that era, when a clever idea and simple controls were enough to hold your attention for a few minutes between other tasks. The title itself tells you the premise: it's a rhythm game mixed with a shoot 'em up. You control a small ship, moving it with your mouse across the bottom of the screen.
Your left mouse button fires your standard weapon, and you use it to clear waves of incoming enemies. The rhythm element comes from colored beats that scroll toward you. Catching these beats builds a special meter; when full, you can unleash a more powerful attack. The main objective is to survive the onslaught, managing both the enemy patterns and the timing of the beat collection. The pacing is quick, and the screen can get crowded, making it a challenge to track everything. It feels like a constant, hectic juggling act between shooting and listening.
