About Recoil

Recoil was one of those games you'd find in the early 2000s, a straightforward action title from the Flash era. It came out in 2002, developed by a studio called J2D. You'd load it up in your browser, and it was ready to go without any fuss.

You control a small, agile tank from a top-down perspective. Your mouse aims the turret, and you click to fire at the enemy vehicles that swarm the urban maps. The main objective is simple: survive each wave, clearing out all hostile units before they overwhelm you. You can collect power-ups scattered around the streets, things like health packs or temporary weapon upgrades. The pacing is quick, with enemies coming from multiple directions, forcing you to keep moving and turning. It feels like a constant, tense skirmish where a moment's hesitation means a game over screen.
