About Pendekar

Pendekar was one of those games you'd find tucked away on Flash game portals in the late 2000s. It stood out for its distinct setting, drawing from Indonesian martial arts and folklore at a time when many other games leaned on more familiar fantasy tropes. You played as a wandering warrior, a concept that felt fresh simply because of its cultural roots.

You control the Pendekar from a side-on perspective, moving through villages and forests. Your main goal is to defend people from bandits and supernatural threats. Moment to moment, you walk, jump across platforms, and engage in close combat. The fighting relies on timing your sword slashes and blocks against groups of enemies. The game could feel quite difficult; enemies hit hard, and health items were not always plentiful. It was a game that rewarded patience and careful observation of attack patterns. Playing it feels like a deliberate, sometimes tense, walk through a world that feels quietly lived-in.
