About Modern Make-up
Modern Make-up was one of those games you'd find tucked away on a Flash portal in the late 2000s. It fit right in with the era's casual, single-screen diversions, a simple game about applying cosmetics. The title was straightforward, and the goal was clear from the start.
You control the cursor, using it to select from a palette of eyeshadows, lipsticks, and blushes shown on the screen. Your task is to apply these to a model's face, matching her features to a target look shown in a small reference photo. The mechanics involve clicking to choose a color, then clicking and dragging to apply it to the correct area of her face; going outside the lines or picking the wrong shade makes the look inaccurate. The game moves at a relaxed pace, without a timer, but the difficulty comes from the precision required for a perfect match. It feels like a quiet, focused exercise in getting the details just right.
