About Field Command 2
Field Command 2 was one of those strategy games you'd find buried in the Flash portals of the mid 2000s. It arrived when browser gaming was a quick escape, a simple window you could open and close between other tasks. The game didn't have the budget of a major studio release, but it offered a specific kind of tactical puzzle that kept you coming back.
You control a squad of soldiers from a top-down perspective, directing them across compact maps against enemy forces. Your main objective is to eliminate all opposition or capture key points. Moment to moment, you click to move individual units, positioning them behind cover or setting up crossfires. You manage their facing and fire modes, choosing between aggressive assaults and cautious suppression. The pacing is deliberate, with each enemy contact requiring you to pause and assess. Mistakes are punished quickly, as exposed troops can be cut down in seconds. It feels like a careful, sometimes tense, game of chess played with rifles and grenades.
