About Declared War
Declared War was one of those simple, direct games you'd find in the late days of Flash. It didn't have a big studio name attached, just a straightforward premise delivered through a browser. You loaded it up, and it was immediately clear what you were in for.
You control a single turret, fixed in the center of the screen. Your mouse aims the cannon, and a left-click fires a shot. Enemy ships drift in from all sides, each with a number indicating how many hits it can take. Your goal is to survive as long as possible by destroying them before they reach you. The central mechanic is a risk-reward system: you can charge up a powerful shot that hits multiple targets, but doing so leaves you vulnerable. The pacing is relentless. Waves come faster, and the screen fills with colored blips and numbers. It feels like a tense, arithmetic panic, managing your shots against an encroaching tide.
