About Covert Operatives

Covert Operatives was a Flash game from the early 2000s. It belonged to that era of browser games you could find on portals like Newgrounds, simple in concept but often surprisingly deep in execution. The game was developed by a creator known as Tom, who released it in 2004. It fit right in with the physics-based combat games that were popular at the time.

You control a squad of four characters, each with a distinct look, on a 2D landscape. Your goal is to eliminate the opposing team across the screen. You take turns aiming and firing weapons, from grenades to missiles, accounting for wind and trajectory. Positioning is key, as a bad move can leave your own operatives vulnerable or cause them to fall. The pacing is methodical, with each shot requiring careful calculation. The difficulty comes from mastering the physics and outthinking your opponent. It feels like a tense, tactical puzzle where every decision matters.
