About Compact Catch
Compact Catch was one of those simple, quick games you'd find during the Flash era. It didn't try to be anything more than a few minutes of distraction, usually played in a browser window between other tasks. The visuals were clean and functional, with a flat, almost diagrammatic style that focused your attention on the throw.
You control a cursor that aims a throwing arc. Your target is a person walking on the sidewalk below, and you press a key to launch a rolled newspaper toward them. The main objective is to land the paper directly into their hands or at their feet so they can pick it up. You adjust for distance and the target's movement, learning the paper's arc and weight with each attempt. The game moves at a steady, methodical pace; missing means waiting for the next pedestrian. It feels like a quiet test of timing and trajectory, a small puzzle of physics repeated until you get it just right.
