About Clayside
Clayside was one of those games you'd find in the late 2000s, tucked away on a Flash game portal. It didn't have a big studio name attached to it, just a simple, functional title that promised a few minutes of distraction. You loaded it up in your browser, and it was ready to go without any fuss, which was the whole point of that era.
You control a cursor, clicking to roll vertical columns of colored clay blocks. Your job is to line up three or more identical blocks horizontally or vertically so they vanish from the grid. The main objective is to clear the board, but new blocks constantly fill in from the top, pushing everything downward. The game gives you a limited number of column rolls, so you have to think about where to shift the pieces. It starts calmly, but the pace picks up as the board gets crowded, and a wrong move can quickly stack blocks to the top. Playing it feels like a quiet, methodical puzzle where a single click can either save you or end the game.
