Bubble Bobble 2

You control a little dragon, Bub or Bob, moving left and right across a single screen. Your main job is to clear each level of monsters. You do this by shooting bubbles to trap them, then popping the bubbles to defeat them. Sometimes you collect items that fall from the popped bubbles, like fruit for points or special power-ups. The game moves at a steady pace, but it can get tricky when the screen fills with enemies. It feels straightforward and focused, a game about trapping and popping in a tight space.
