About Bola

Bola was one of those games you'd find on a Flash portal in the mid-2000s, a simple puzzle title that didn't need much explanation. It fit right in with the era's casual, browser based games, offering a quiet few minutes of distraction between other tasks. The developer isn't widely remembered now, which feels appropriate for a game that was just there, part of the background of the web.

You control a cursor that lets you swap any two adjacent balls on the board. The goal is to clear the field by making matches, but there's a twist. Balls only disappear when you line up three or more of the same color diagonally. Horizontal or vertical rows do nothing. After a match, the balls above fall down to fill the gaps, but they don't drop straight; they slide diagonally along the tilted grid, which constantly reshapes the puzzle. The pace is steady, and the difficulty comes from planning around these diagonal drops and the board's unusual physics. It feels like untangling a knot where every pull changes the shape of the string.
