Battle City

You control a small green tank from a top-down view. Your job is to protect the eagle symbol at the base of your fortress while destroying waves of enemy tanks. You move with the arrow keys and fire with a separate button, which forces you to plan your shots carefully. The levels are mazes of destructible brick walls and unbreakable steel, so you can blast your own paths or get trapped. Enemy tanks come in different types; some are faster, and others take more hits to destroy. The game starts calmly but gets hectic quickly as more tanks pour in from the edges of the screen. It feels tense and focused, a test of positioning and quick decisions before your base is overrun.
