About Astroblaster
Astroblaster was one of those games you'd find in the later days of the Flash era. It didn't have a complicated story or a big name behind it. You just loaded it up in your browser, and it was ready to go. It fit right in with other simple, fast-paced shooters from that time.
You control a small, triangular ship at the bottom of the screen. Your job is to survive. Waves of geometric enemies, things like squares and diamonds, descend from the top. You move your ship left and right with the mouse, firing a steady stream of bullets upward. The main objective is to clear each wave and see how long you can last. The mechanics are straightforward. You have a primary weapon, and some enemies drop power-ups when destroyed, like a spread shot or a temporary shield. The pacing is relentless. New enemies appear almost immediately after you clear a group, and the difficulty ramps up quickly as they move faster and fire more frequently. It feels tense and immediate, a test of your reflexes more than your strategy.
