About Zeliard

Zeliard is a side scrolling action title that incorporates platform navigation and role playing systems. Its narrative centers on Duke Garland, who must defeat the ancient demon Jashiin to end a sand rain curse and rescue a petrified princess. This requires collecting nine specific items known as the Tears of Esmesanti.

Gameplay involves exploring large, maze like labyrinths filled with enemies and environmental hazards. The protagonist uses a sword and shield for combat and can learn projectile magic spells. Progression often depends on finding crests and keys. Damage is taken from enemies and certain environmental features, though falls from platforms are not harmful.

Character advancement is tied to collecting enemy spirits, called almas. These are exchanged for gold at banks and also function as experience points. Accumulating enough almas allows a town sage to permanently increase the Duke's health and magic capacity.

Towns serve as hubs where health can be restored, and where weapons, armor, and potions can be bought or repaired. Equipping different types of clothing provides specific benefits, such as improved jumping or traction on icy surfaces. Other special items can temporarily boost attack power or defense. The need to manage these resources and navigate complex areas suggests a challenging experience.
