About Wing Commander: Academy

Wing Commander Academy is a space combat simulation set within a Confederation training facility. Pilots assume the role of a new academy recruit, operating within a simulator environment to develop their skills.

The experience is structured around individual dogfight scenarios rather than a continuous narrative. Players engage in first person combat against Kilrathi forces in a full three dimensional space, utilizing a selection of spacecraft, weapon systems, and wingmen. The visual presentation and control scheme are derived directly from Wing Commander II.

A defining feature is a mission construction tool, which uses an interface resembling a radar display. Through this system, users can place various objects to create custom engagements, including friendly and enemy fighters, capital ships, space stations, and pilots in need of rescue.
