About The Gold of the Aztecs

The player controls Bret Conrad, a former soldier turned treasure hunter, on a quest to locate a legendary Aztec city and its gold. This objective is pursued across a series of interconnected screens that must be navigated in sequence.

Gameplay involves progressing screen by screen through environments like jungles, with each location presenting environmental hazards such as falling stones or unstable bridges. The experience is built around navigating these challenging obstacles. Movement through the world is extensive, with the character capable of over 140 distinct animations.

Its mechanics are noted as being similar to those found in the game Barbarian from Psygnosis. The protagonist begins the adventure equipped with standard gear including a backpack, firearm, and knife after obtaining an ancient map.
