Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Arcade Game

Konami released this arcade title when the animated series was widely popular. It is structured as a side scrolling beat em up, with gameplay that simplifies the approach seen in titles like Double Dragon. Players control one of the four ninja turtles, fighting through waves of Foot Soldiers to rescue their kidnapped friend April O'Neil from Shredder.

The journey to confront Shredder involves defeating several bosses, including the mad scientist Baxter Stockman, the rock creature General Traag, and the alien brain Krang. Some enemy Foot Soldiers are more dangerous, wielding weapons like knives or ray guns, while others are easy to defeat. Boss encounters typically cap each stage, with some levels featuring a pair like Bebop and Rocksteady working together.

A version for the NES was given a distinct title in Western markets, adding content not found in the arcade original. These additions include two entirely new stages, new boss characters, more enemy variants, and extra music tracks.
