This influential beat 'em up uses progressive combat techniques like grabs and mounted attacks to rescue your kidnapped girlfriend across five challenging urban stages.

Renegade (Nekketsu Kōha Kunio-kun) was originally released in arcades in 1986. The DOS version was published by Ocean Software in 1988, matching the legacy year.

About Renegade

Renegade is a scrolling beat 'em up originally developed by Technos. The Western release transposes the setting from a Japanese city to the streets of Brooklyn. The player's objective is to rescue a kidnapped girlfriend across five distinct stages, which include urban environments like subways and docks.

Combat utilizes a variety of moves such as punches, kicks, headbutts, and flying kicks. The tone of the violence is not entirely serious, incorporating a humorous, tongue in cheek style. This title served as the foundation for the Kunio series and inspired later unofficial follow ups.
