About Police Quest 2: The Vengeance

Police Quest 2: The Vengeance continues the story of officer Sonny Bonds shortly after his promotion to Homicide and engagement to Marie. The central conflict arises when the drug lord Jesse Bains, whom Sonny previously helped imprison, escapes custody and seeks revenge. This personal threat defines the narrative as Sonny, now partnered with a new detective, pursues the fugitive.

The gameplay retains the core adventure mechanics of its predecessor, utilizing a text parser for interactions and point-and-click movement within scenes. However, the investigative focus shifts from general street policing to forensic field work, requiring the collection of physical evidence to connect Bains to various crimes. This change in approach is accompanied by more diverse scenarios, including a shooting range and an underwater search, while the driving sequences present in the first game are absent. Travel between locations is instead handled through dialogue exchanges between the characters.

Technically, the game employs Sierra's SCI engine, which results in more vibrant graphics. The player's role remains one of direct command over Sonny's actions to navigate and solve the unfolding case.
