Review
Also known as
Karate Master Karateka Classic カラテカ

This side-scrolling fighter challenges you to battle through a fortress, using high and low kicks and punches against guards to rescue the princess.

Karateka was originally released in 1984 for the Apple II. The DOS version was released in 1986 by Brøderbund Software.

About Karateka

Karateka is a side-view martial arts game where the player controls a protagonist on a quest to rescue Princess Mariko from the villain Akuma, who has devastated the hero's homeland. The journey involves a series of one-on-one fights against progressively challenging opponents.

Combat is based on a system of three distinct heights for both punches and kicks, used by the player and enemies alike. The protagonist's health will slowly regenerate if he remains stationary, a mechanic that can influence the pacing of encounters.
