About Galactic Conqueror

Galactic Conqueror is a DOS game combining action and strategic elements. Players pilot the Thunder Cloud II space fighter to attack planets under enemy control, set against a backdrop where rebel forces are advancing on the Gallion space station.

The action portions feature a pseudo-3D perspective reminiscent of titles like Afterburner. These segments are divided into distinct environments, including space, aerial, and ground combat, each with its own movement dynamics and opponent types. Separately, a real-time strategic layer exists where players make battle decisions on a galactic map.

For its PC release, the game employs specific speaker programming to approximate its audio track on hardware not originally designed for it.

Pre-mission launch from the mothership.
Phase 1: Ground combat. The Thunder Cloud II can turn left and right to dodge enemies.
Enemies vary slightly from mission to mission; the main forces are meteoroids, mines and light fighters.
Phase 2: Aerial combat. The Thunder Cloud II can no longer turn, but roll. That’s pretty much all the difference.
Nice: As the ship rolls, the horizon will rotate.
Phase 3: Space combat. No more surface, just more rolling and enemy attack squadrons.
The Thunder Cloud’s shield glows when hit. The PC CGA port lacks the damage bar of the other version.
The stellar map with its 416 planets. Pick a new battlefield for another three-stage mission.
The very, very useless “digitalized view of the fight as seen by the probe”.
