About Empire II: The Art of War

Empire II: The Art of War is an updated iteration of a foundational computer wargame. Its systems introduce greater complexity to engagements, as land units can now sustain partial damage during combat rather than facing immediate destruction. The simulation is deepened by factors like unit morale, which can force a retreat independently of player commands, and environmental conditions such as weather.

Beyond refined combat mechanics, the game offers expanded terrain options and more detailed rules governing unit sighting and movement. The capacity to schedule reinforcements at specific intervals adds a layer of strategic planning to scenarios.

A notable feature is its enhanced scenario editor, which provides extensive customization. Players can design not only maps and scenarios but also invent entirely new unit types. This allows for the creation of battles across any imagined setting, from historical periods to fantasy or science fiction, by defining custom unit statistics and graphics.
