This survival horror adventure strands you aboard a submarine with a monstrous cargo, testing your wits in a desperate Antarctic rescue mission.

Call of Cthulhu: Prisoner of Ice was developed by Infogrames and first released for DOS in 1995, which is also the original release year for the game.

About Call of Cthulhu: Prisoner of Ice

In this title from Infogrames, which draws inspiration from the works of H. P. Lovecraft, the player assumes the role of an American agent named Lt. Ryan. His assignment takes place on the submarine H.M.S. Victoria during an Antarctic rescue operation.

The core gameplay utilizes a streamlined adventure interface where cursor clicks perform actions. A left click interacts with an object, while a right click examines it. The system is restrictive, only permitting the specific actions required to progress, which makes the gameplay fair in its linearity.

The narrative begins with the recovery of two mysterious crates. This event triggers a series of escalating horrors, starting with the captain being killed by a monstrous entity contained within the cargo. The protagonist finds himself trapped aboard the vessel with this creature, initiating a dangerous situation.
