About Vortex

Vortex is a three dimensional shooter for the Super Nintendo that utilizes the system's Super FX 1 chip for its graphics processing. The player controls an experimental mech, also called the Vortex, in a conflict against the Aki Do Forces across their seven world system.

A central feature is the ability to transform the vehicle between four distinct modes during play. These forms, which include a sonic jet and a land burner, each possess unique weaponry and specialized attributes for different combat situations.

Its development studio also created Star Fox, resulting in a similar style of gameplay, though Vortex incorporates its own specific mechanics through the transforming mech.
