SimEarth: The Living Planet was originally released in 1990 for computers. The SNES version was released in 1992 in Japan (published by Imagineer) and later in North America (published by FCI). The legacy year 1990 refers to the original computer release, not the SNES version.

About SimEarth: The Living Planet

SimEarth: The Living Planet is a simulation where the player manages a world across an immense geological and biological timeline. The objective is to develop life from simple origins into a spacefaring civilization.

Management involves a resource called energy, which is finite and must be recovered. This energy fuels the player's interventions, which range from terraforming actions like altering landmasses and triggering seismic events to influencing biological development. The simulation presents persistent challenges to survival, including environmental degradation, conflict, and public health crises.
