Battle gangs and mythical creatures in a post-apocalyptic side-scrolling beat 'em up. Collect orbs for power-ups and summon spirits to aid your fight.

Sengoku was originally released in arcades by SNK in 1991. The SNES/Super Famicom port was released in 1993, so the legacy year 1991 refers to the arcade version, not the SNES version.

About Sengoku

Sengoku is a side-scrolling beat 'em up for two players set in a future threatened by gangs. The conflict escalates when the villain Nobunaga initiates a temporal invasion, pulling warriors and creatures from Japan's historical sengoku period into the fray.

Combat involves collecting colored orbs dropped by foes. These items serve various functions, such as restoring health, expanding the life gauge, or providing weapons like samurai swords. The setting shifts between urban landscapes and a spirit realm, where players confront mythical Japanese figures.

A key mechanic involves defeating specific enemies to acquire their souls, which allow for a temporary transformation. By summoning these spirits, a player's character can change form, gaining new attacks and abilities as an armored wolf, a samurai, or an acrobatic ninja.
