A vertical scrolling shooter where you pilot a fighter, upgrade weapons, and battle alien warships.

Raiden was originally released in arcades in 1990. The SNES version, titled Raiden Trad, was released in 1991 in Japan and North America.

About Raiden

Raiden is a vertical scrolling shooter where the player pilots an experimental fighter against an alien invasion in 2090. The game is a home console adaptation of an arcade title, known as Raiden Trad on the SNES and Genesis platforms.

Players engage enemy craft, which resemble modified military vehicles, across multiple levels. The core arsenal includes a primary weapon with two upgrade paths and a choice between standard or homing missiles. For emergency situations, a limited supply of screen clearing bombs is available from the start. Each stage concludes with a confrontation against one or more large boss vessels, making the pacing challenging.
