Breath of Fire II was originally released for the Super Famicom in Japan on December 2, 1994. The SNES version in North America followed in 1995, but the earliest worldwide commercial release on the SNES platform was the Japanese Super Famicom release in 1994.

About Breath of Fire II

Breath of Fire II is a role-playing game where the player controls Ryu, a young adventurer with fragmented memories of a magical doorway and a distant village. His journey begins in earnest when a routine mission leads to his companion Bow being falsely accused of theft, prompting a quest for truth and redemption.

The gameplay involves forming a party from a roster of characters, each contributing unique skills, as Ryu explores the world from a top-down perspective. Combat, however, shifts to an isometric view. A later version of the game introduces a community system for building a personal town and a link-cable feature for trading items with other players.

Ryu's personal investigation intertwines with uncovering his own latent abilities and the significance of his dreams, driving the narrative forward across various locations and encounters.
