About Ashita no Joe

Ashita no Joe is a boxing video game adaptation of a popular manga series. Players control the character Joe Yabuki through a series of matches against increasingly challenging opponents as he progresses in the Bantamweight division.

The game's control scheme is straightforward, utilizing one button for attacks and another for defensive blocks. Victory in a match is achieved by scoring three knockdowns against an opponent, though players must remain vigilant against counterattacks. A two-player versus mode is also available for direct competition.

Joe's backstory, drawn from the source material, involves his discovery as a fighter during a prison altercation with a skilled boxer named Rikiishi. His training under a coach named Danpei prepares him for his entry into the professional boxing circuit.
