A side-scrolling action RPG where Adol wields his sword and uses magical rings to battle evil in Redmont.

Ys III: Wanderers from Ys was originally released in 1989 for the PC-8801mkII SR and other Japanese computers. The Sega Genesis version was released in North America in 1991 by Renovation Products, and in Japan in 1991 by Victor Musical Industries. The legacy year 1989 refers to the original computer release, not the Genesis version.

About Ys III: Wanderers from Ys

Ys III: Wanderers from Ys introduces several mechanical shifts from its predecessors. The perspective changes to a side view, and the protagonist Adol Christin gains the ability to jump and wield his sword with directional control, moving away from the prior contact based combat.

The narrative follows Adol as he accompanies his friend Dogi to the town of Redmont, which is experiencing unexplained troubles. Throughout this journey, players will discover key items used to solve environmental puzzles and advance the plot.

New systems include magical rings that provide Adol with various supportive abilities, such as creating protective barriers or restoring health. These elements combine to form a distinct entry in the series.
