Valis III

Review
Also known as
ヴァリスⅢ

This side-scroller features three playable heroes with unique weapons for its challenging combat stages.

Valis III was originally released in 1990 on the PC Engine CD-ROM² in Japan. The Sega Genesis version was released in 1991 in North America by Renovation Products.

About Valis III

Valis III is a side-scrolling platform action game where players navigate through interconnected levels. The narrative follows a new conflict emerging after a period of peace, as a figure named Glames seeks to conquer both Earth and the magical realm of Vecanti to save his own Dark World.

Gameplay involves controlling three distinct characters, each with unique combat styles. One character employs a whip in a manner reminiscent of certain vampire-hunting protagonists, while another specializes in potent magical spells despite physical weakness. The third retains the series' signature Valis sword. All characters can utilize different weapons and access individual magical abilities.

The story is set in motion when a refugee from the Dark World, a girl named Cham, seeks help from the sword-wielder Yuko to stop Glames and his powerful sword, Leethus. This expands the playable roster and the strategic options available to the player throughout the adventure.
