Taz-Mania

Review

Spin into a whirlwind to battle enemies and find a giant bird egg across 16 platforming levels.

Taz-Mania for the Sega Genesis was developed by Recreational Brainware and published by Sega in 1992. This is the original release of the game on any platform, as the Genesis version was the first Taz-Mania game released.

About Taz-Mania

Taz-Mania for the Sega Genesis is a platforming game based on the animated series. The player controls Taz, who journeys across diverse environments like deserts, jungles, and ancient ruins in search of a giant prehistoric bird's egg.

Movement involves running and jumping, with Taz's signature spin attack allowing him to defeat most enemies. The game incorporates various collectible items with distinct functions. Consuming food restores health, while hot peppers grant a temporary fire breath ability. Other items, such as stars for invulnerability and bombs for throwing at foes, provide strategic options.

The adventure spans 16 levels, which include standard platforming sequences as well as specific challenges. These challenging segments feature a mine cart section requiring precise elevation control and a river crossing that demands quick jumps on sinking logs. Several stages conclude with boss encounters.
