About Flink

Flink is a platform game where the protagonist, a wizard's apprentice, must rescue four elders from an antagonist named Wicked Wainwright in the fantasy setting of Imagica.

Its defining mechanic involves pausing the game to combine three collected ingredients into spells, with ten possible recipes learned from scrolls. These spells serve various functions, including offensive support from summoned creatures, protective shields, altering Flink's size, manipulating the environment to access new areas, and generating keys for locked containers.

Spellcasting consumes a magic energy resource, which is refilled by collecting specific items or defeating foes. The game presents a challenging risk in that taking damage causes Flink to lose all his stored magic energy, which must be retrieved quickly before it vanishes. A life is lost if he is hit without any magic energy in reserve.
