About Toki

Toki is a side scrolling action game where the protagonist, transformed into an ape by a sorcerer, must rescue his captured love. The journey to confront the antagonist spans six distinct environments, including caves, an underwater area, and a fiery cavern.

Combat primarily involves spitting projectiles at foes, though a jumping stomp is also effective. Collectible power ups can modify this main attack to a fire breath or provide temporary defensive benefits. Other items replenish health, extend the time limit, or contribute to the player's score.

The NES adaptation introduced a health meter, making the game fair by moving away from instant defeat. A separate release for the Genesis platform features altered stage designs, more levels, and a different set of enemies.
