The Immortal

Review
Also known as
Will Harvey Presents The Immortal Wizard of the Immortal ウイザード オブ イモータル

Navigate a deadly dungeon using puzzle-solving and action combat to rescue your lost mentor.

The Immortal was developed by Sandcastle and published by Electronic Arts. The original game was released in 1990 for the Apple IIgs and MS-DOS, and the NES version was also released in 1990 by Electronic Arts.

About The Immortal

The Immortal is an isometric adventure where the player descends into a dungeon to locate a missing mentor. The experience is structured around a cycle of trial and error, as navigating its eight levels requires learning trap patterns and enemy behaviors through repeated attempts. This makes the overall pacing challenging.

Gameplay involves managing an inventory of items to solve environmental puzzles, which can include tasks like maneuvering a magic carpet or riding a barrel. Interaction with dungeon inhabitants varies, as some characters offer trades or information while others are hostile. Combat is a direct, one-on-one affair where anticipating an enemy's signaled attack allows for dodging or striking from the left or right.

There is no traditional save function, but players can restart individual levels freely. A password system is provided to skip previously completed sections.
