About Fire 'n Ice

Fire 'n Ice is a side-view puzzle game where the player controls the wizard Dana, tasked with extinguishing all flames in each level. The setting involves the island Coolmint, which is under attack by flame monsters sent by the wizard Druidle, leading the winter fairy queen to select Dana for the mission.

Gameplay revolves around manipulating ice blocks, which Dana can create or destroy. These blocks are formed diagonally below him in the direction he faces, and creating one where ice already exists will remove it. A key restriction is that ice cannot be placed directly on a flame, requiring players to position blocks adjacent or above flames so they can be pushed or dropped onto them. Blocks that adhere to walls or other objects become immovable, while loose blocks slide across the ground until they stop. This mechanics allows for the construction of ice bridges over gaps. Besides ice, indestructible rocks can also be used to smother flames, though they move only one space unless on ice.

The game contains ten main worlds plus five secret ones, each with ten levels. The first nine worlds can be tackled in any order, while the tenth level of a world typically presents a challenging scenario, such as moving flames or rising lava. Additional elements include pipes for travel, burning jars that melt ice, and moving monsters. An edit mode is included for creating custom levels.
