About Barbie

Barbie is a side scrolling action game for the NES. The player guides Barbie through a series of dreams about her upcoming day, moving from left to right across each stage.

The game world consists of thirteen stages grouped into five levels, with settings including a mall, a beach, and a soda shop. These environments are filled with animated creatures and objects thematically appropriate to each location.

Gameplay involves basic platforming and projectile combat. Barbie can jump and throw crystals, with the throwing distance determined by how long the attack button is held. There are three distinct crystal types, each producing a different result when they hit a target: one defeats enemies, one turns them into helpers, and one has assorted other effects.
