About Anticipation

Anticipation presents a competitive picture guessing experience structured around a board game format. Players aim to collect four colored cards by correctly identifying drawings as they form on screen. The game selects four categories per session from a broad pool including food, travel, music, and office items.

During play, a sequence of dots appears before a pencil connects them to reveal an image. Participants must ring in using their controller to guess the picture. The speed of a correct guess influences movement, as a countdown die determines how many spaces a player advances on the board afterward. The color landed on then sets the category for the next round.

Up to four participants can play, though the NES Satellite accessory is not compatible. Sessions with three or four people require controller sharing, where one player signals they know the answer and then physically takes the controller to input it. The challenge can be adjusted, making the game more challenging by using complex images or by reducing the number of guiding dots.
