Rescue your cavegirl, ride dinosaurs, and manage food and power-ups across eight themed worlds.

Takahashi Meijin no Boukenjima II (Adventure Island II) was originally released for the NES/Famicom in 1991. The Game Boy version, a separate port, was released in 1992.

About Takahashi Meijin no Boukenjima II

Takahashi Meijin no Boukenjima II is a platforming game where the protagonist, Master Higgins, must rescue his companion from extraterrestrial forces with plans for global conquest. The experience is structured across eight distinct worlds, each with a unique theme and represented on an overhead map that sometimes branches into alternate paths.

Core survival mechanics involve managing a constantly depleting hunger meter by gathering food items, while avoiding enemy contact typically results in immediate defeat. This vulnerability can be mitigated by utilizing collected power-ups, which include offensive tools and a skateboard for increased movement speed. A significant new feature is the introduction of dinosaur mounts that grant special capabilities, such as flight or projectile attacks.

Players have strategic control over their inventory, as power-ups and dinosaur companions can be selected before entering a level rather than being used immediately upon collection. Each world culminates in a boss encounter that must be overcome to progress.
