About Swamp Thing

Swamp Thing for the Game Boy is a platform game featuring the DC Comics character. The narrative involves the hero's mission to stop Dr. Arcane, who intends to release a mutation serum, while also repairing environmental damage.

Gameplay involves navigating through three initial environments a desert, arctic, and forest which can be tackled in any sequence. A final stage becomes accessible after these are cleared. Players manage two resources: a life energy meter and a separate gauge for environmental health that depletes over time.

Life energy can be restored by collecting water icons or by catching a boomeranging shot attack after it is fired, as using this attack initially drains the meter. The environmental meter is refilled by performing helpful actions, such as righting a turtle or using a special attack to recycle scattered trash. Enemy encounters primarily consist of wildlife controlled by Arcane.

Each stage concludes with a boss fight. Victory against these bosses grants Swamp Thing new abilities, such as invisibility, though these powers are only active when the character is not moving.
