About International Track & Field

International Track & Field for the Game Boy Color centers on a Hyper College student aiming to qualify for the Decathlon. The experience is structured around a weekly training regimen where the player must manage their athlete's development across ten standard track and field events.

Gameplay involves creating a custom profile and then scheduling daily practice sessions from Monday through Saturday, with the option to rest on certain days to manage athlete condition. Performance in events like sprints, jumps, and throws directly influences three core athletic traits: running, jumping, and throwing. These traits can be improved through consistent practice, but factors like stress and power loss can negatively impact results, making the balancing act challenging.

Progress is gated by achieving specific performance goals within the decathlon events. Sundays offer a departure from the main training loop, allowing for alternative practice or non-sport activities to provide a break for the virtual athlete.
