The Revenge of Shinobi is set in an ancient Japanese world where a ninja named Shinobi is the protagonist. His quest involves confronting five Shoguns, each in possession of a distinct elemental sword.

Success in this mission requires a combination of combat prowess, stealth, and the use of magical abilities. Shinobi must journey across five separate lands to collect all the swords, which is necessary to lift a curse plaguing the world.
