Also known as

Control one of four characters in an overhead beat 'em up, using unique weapons and special attacks to battle monsters across linear levels.

Samurai Deeper Kyo for Game Boy Advance was released in 2002 by Marvelous Entertainment in Japan; it is the original game version, so both years are 2002.

About Samurai Deeper Kyo

Samurai Deeper Kyo adapts its anime source material into an overhead beat 'em up. The narrative follows several characters from the series, including Miibu Kyoshiro and Shiina Yuya, on a dual mission to find a killer and prevent the demonic Kyo from possessing a host body.

Gameplay involves selecting one of these characters, each equipped with a unique weapon, to fight through linear stages filled with enemy monsters. A CPU controlled partner assists throughout the journey. Combat is expanded beyond basic attacks through specific button combinations that unleash a variety of special moves.
